A Winter Week In: Northville

Winters have a way of keeping you hostage inside your home to evade the bitter cold and never-ending snowfall. But downtown Northville has a wealth of things to do that’ll be sure to pull you away from your favorite blanket and cup of hot chocolate. So, put on your warmest gloves and coziest hat, and enjoy this lineup of activities to cure that cabin fever:

Sunday: What better way to take a digital detox and unplug from social media and technology, than taking the family to the theatre for a play. The local historical, landmark, Marquis Theatre, has been providing entertainment for over 80 years. Once an opera house turned vaudeville, the Victorian venue has had the finest acts to grace its stage including Charlie Chaplin & Mary Pickford. The Marquis Theatre has recently changed ownership, however, the new proprietors also plan to feature live shows once Covid-19 subsides.

Monday: If you missed #SelfCareSunday, don’t fret! The staff at New Body Therapeutics, will take care of you. From a Swedish massage to the Anti-Aging Blueberry Detox Facial, you’ll be sure to get a pick me up from the “winter blues.”

Tuesday: Haven’t seen your friends and family smiling faces in quite some time? Invite them over for an impromptu after work wine and cheese shindig. Stock up on the goods from the local Kroger on Center street. Offering specialty cheeses, wine and meats, you’ll have the essentials to keep your guests happy and make their snowy trip worthwhile!

Wednesday: If you are going stir-crazy at home and need a little peace, do some yoga with Hot Yoga Detroit. Melissa Mazaris, long time Plymouth resident, owns this popular business located on Center St, near Main St. The studio is currently closed due to Covid-19, but participants are welcome to take online classes at hotyogadetroit.com. So, if you are looking to find a release from all stress and anxiety while increasing your muscle strength and overall body tone, log in and find your zen.

Thursday: If you are looking for a bit of retail therapy or doing some holiday shopping, Dear Prudence is a great place to start. The charming women’s boutique is located in the heart of Downtown Northville offering fun on trend fashion, jewelry and gifts at reasonable prices.

Friday: With the cooler temps, nothing warms the soul more than comfort food. You’ll want to visit the Center Street Grille to get your dose of homemade goodness. Their cast-iron mac and cheeses are a crowd favorite and are sure to feed your appetite. Cavatappi noodles are tossed in our creamy rich cheese sauce and are topped with everything from applewood smoked bacon to Ironwood’s BBQ pulled pork. You’ll be sure to leave with a full belly. Dubbed the “Local Hangout” Center Street Grille has become Northville’s favorite place to gather with friends and family, enjoy some great food, watch a game, and experience great hospitality.

Saturday: If you are looking to burn some calories after indulging in comfort food or just looking to get active, the 944 acres of gently rolling terrain of Maybury State Park is a great way to get moving. Open year-round, users can enjoy plowed walking/running paths and groomed ski trails to get their heart pumping.
